How I Capture Screenshots Using Button Combinations
This is my go-to method because it’s quick and easy. It works on almost every Samsung phone.
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Power (Side) button and Volume Down button at the same time.
- Let go of both buttons right away.
You’ll see a quick flash or hear a shutter sound. That means the screenshot is saved. This method is simple and works on most Samsung models. If it doesn’t work, your phone settings might need adjusting.
My Go-To Gesture: Palm Swipe to Capture
I love this feature because it feels cool and futuristic. No buttons needed!
First, turn it on:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced Features.
- Select Motions and Gestures.
- Turn on Palm swipe to capture.
Now, to take a screenshot:
- Place the side of your hand on one edge of the screen.
- Swipe across the screen in one smooth motion.
You’ll hear a click or see the screen flash. If it doesn’t work, try swiping slower or check if the setting is on.
Hands-Free Screenshots with Bixby and Google Assistant
Sometimes, I don’t want to use my hands at all. That’s where voice commands come in.
- Say “Hey Bixby” or “Hey Google” to wake up your assistant.
- Say “Take a screenshot.”
Your phone will snap a screenshot right away. Just make sure voice wake-up is enabled in the settings. This is perfect when my hands are full, or I’m too lazy to press buttons.
Taking Screenshots on Specific Samsung Models
Different Samsung models come with their own tricks for taking screenshots. Here are the best methods for popular devices.
- Samsung Galaxy S24: I use the S Pen to take screenshots. I just open the Air Command menu and tap Screen write. This lets me capture and edit right away.
- Samsung Galaxy S23: The Edge Panel makes it easy. I swipe in to open the panel, tap Smart select, and choose the area I want to capture.
- Samsung Galaxy S22: I like using the Assistant Menu shortcut. I enable it in Accessibility settings, and a floating button appears for quick screenshots.
- Samsung Galaxy A14: The Notification Panel works well. I add the Screenshot button to Quick Settings, so I can tap and capture instantly.
Capturing Screenshots Without the Power Button
My power button sometimes acts up, so I use another way. The Assistant Menu gives me a floating button to take screenshots easily.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity.
- Turn on Assistant Menu.
To take a screenshot:
- Tap the Assistant Menu icon.
- Select Screenshot.
This works great when the buttons aren’t an option.
Taking a Screenshot on Samsung with Bixby
I love hands-free options, and Bixby makes it super easy.
- I say “Hey Bixby” or press the Bixby button.
- Then I say “Take a screenshot.”
Bixby does the rest, no buttons needed. This is perfect when I’m busy or my hands are full.
Accessing and Sharing Your Screenshots
Finding my screenshots is easy, and sharing them takes just a few taps.
To view them:
- Open the Gallery app.
- Go to the Screenshots album.
From here, I can edit, share, or delete any screenshot. If I want to send one quickly, I just tap Share and pick an app like WhatsApp or email. It’s that simple!
