How Roborock water dispensing works

Roborock robot vacuums and vacuum-mop hybrids use a small internal water tank, a pump or gravity-fed flow system depending on the model, and mop pads to distribute water onto the floor.

On models such as the Roborock S8, Q Revo, S7 MaxV, and similar devices, the app controls mop intensity, water flow, and cleaning modes.

When water is not reaching the mop pad, the issue is usually one of four categories: water supply, software settings, physical blockage, or hardware failure.

Verify the mop water level

Open the Roborock app and review the mop intensity or water flow setting for the current map and room.

Increase it one level and run a short test cleaning cycle on a hard floor.

Confirm the correct cleaning mode

Some Roborock models disable or limit water dispensing when carpet boost, vacuum-only mode, or certain avoidance settings are active.

For Roborock units that refill or wash mop pads at the dock, dirty charging and communication contacts can interfere with station functions.

Wipe the contacts on both the robot and dock with a dry microfiber cloth, then retry the cleaning cycle.

Test for pump or valve failure

If water still does not dispense after cleaning and app checks, the issue may be mechanical.

Roborock models with active water delivery systems rely on a pump or valve to move water from the reservoir to the mop area.

First try restarting the robot, removing and replacing the tank, and running a short manual mop test.

If the issue persists, perform a software reset only after backing up your map if the model and app version support it.

Reconnect the robot to Wi-Fi, reconfigure mop settings, and test dispensing again on bare flooring.

How to prevent water dispensing problems

  • Use clean, filtered water to reduce mineral buildup.
